Hello Everyone,

This is a subject that is very dear to my heart so please read further...

For the past year I have been going every Friday to the Dripdrop Cafe in Warner Robins, one of the few venues that would let me even walk in the doors, as an instrumental guitarist and unknown act. This venue and the support of Cassandra Crosby(owner) has helped me gain experience and shape me into a performer.

Her shop not only offers live music but supports a bunch of things that drive a community. The Dripdrop provides a safe non-smoking environment for people of all ages, and is the only under age venue in the area.

It is a joy for me to go and perform at her space, gain experience and open minds to my style of music. And I really hate to see it go, so I am helping with the fight to keep it open, meaning we are putting on a benefit show for the Dripdrop to stay open.

Time is of the essence here and we just have determined our venue--- so I hope you will come out and support this cause and see and hear some great music from some well known folks as well as some kids that get to play the shop.

If you can't make it or may know someone in the area, please pass this email along. We have little time to promote and again, time is not on our side.

The Dripdrop Cafe has been experienceing difficulties due to the closing of a gate on the Air Force Base. This has nothing to do with bad business at all. The gate was closed for several months and three other businesses went under during that time that live on lunch crowds... The gate has reopened but we need that extra push... and without it, the doors WILL most likely close.

This is an urgent matter as to why we are moving in such short time...

Please help keep this space for MUSIC, CULTURE AND DIVERSITY open, this is an UNCONDITIONAL venue who opens it's arms to ALL people and GROUPS. A true meaning of what community is and should be. One of the points I wish to stress is the multigenerational audience, how often do you see teens hanging out with 40,50,60+ at a live music show and actually communicating with each other?

The next DHR Board Meeting will be held on March 21.

The Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases
(MHDDAD) Committee of the Board of Human Resources will meet the on
March 21 from 10:00 a.m. to noon on the 22nd floor at 2 Peachtree
Street, room 270. The DHR MHDDAD Committee meetings are open to the
public.

The monthly meetings of the DHR Board of Human Resources are open to
the public. Meetings begin at 1:00 p.m. and are normally held in room
250 on the 29th floor of the Georgia Department of Human Resources
central offices at 2 Peachtree Street, Atlanta.

If you would like to attend the DHR MHDDAD meeting prior to the MH

The event is planned for Saturday, March 31st. This is the week before Easter so we hope that will make it easier for your group to participate this year. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Please note we are requesting each table have a game or activity for the children to play or do with a prize or gift from your organization. This does two things, it gets the parents to your table and it allows some more fun for the children. Please call me if you would like to do a different activity. Last year we estimated we had over 1400 people at Easter in the Park.

In July 2006, the Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) introduced the
Georgia Crisis & Access Line, a new statewide hotline designed to streamline
24/7 access to mental health, developmental disabilities, substance abuse
and behavioral healthcare crisis services. Georgia DHR awarded the service
to Atlanta-based Behavioral Health Link (BHL), a division of Integrated
Health Resources, LLC.

The goal of the Georgia Crisis & Access Line is to promote friendly and easy
access to services throughout the state's 159 counties. 1-800-715-GCAL is
available day or night in time of crisis and to assist with routine access
to services.

Houston Co Community Outreach Service Center Women and Children's Homeless Shelter

Good News! The official opening date for the Community Outreach Service Center Women and Children's Shelter has now been set. We will begin admitting clients on Thursday, February 22, 2007. All women admitted into the shelter must have been Houston County residents at the time they became homeless, they must have 2 forms of identification (one of which must be a picture I.D.) and they must meet the HUD definition of homeless (i.e. sleeping in place(s) not meant for human habitation, currently living in a shelter or transitional housing, within one week of eviction, leaving a short-stay facility such as detox center, crisis center, jail, etc. or is being discharged from such a facility and has been a resident there for more than 30 consecutive days and no subsequent residences have been identified.)

As an emergency facility, clients must understand that housing is generally limited to a period of thirty (30) days and during such time all clients must seek employment unless there is a physician's statement indicating an inability to do so. Clients will be assessed a nominal fee for their stay.

Please share this information with as many agencies and service providers in the Houston County area as possible. Also, we are in dire need of female resident assistants for nights and weekends. If anyone knows of any responsible, trustworthy candidates who might be interested in this position please ask them to contact us during the hours of 10am - 2pm at (478) 922-3195 or leave a message on our voicemail.
